Periolat One-Name Study

This site contains records that I found relating to the surname Periolat (also spelled Periolet, Perolet, Perriolat, Perrloit).

Periolat is a French name originating from the Alsace-Lorraine region in France/Germany. This region has been ruled by both France and Germany. Some of the Periolat records indicate France as the country of origin and some indicate Germany as the country of origin.

There are two main branches of Periolats in the United States both branches trace their origin to the Chicago area in the 1840s. My ancestor, Francis Anton Periolat, and several of his siblings settled in Chicago in 1839. Napoleon Periolat and his family immigrated from France in 1844 and settled just outside Chicago. There is no indication that these families are related.
