Caesar A. Periolat, a pioneer hardware dealer of Chicago, died at his residence, 436 Fulton street, November 23, aged 61 years. Mr. Periolat was brought to Chicago by his parents from France in 1836, when he was one year old. As a boy Mr. Periolat learned the tinsmith’s trade, and for a long time worked for Fulleger & Smyth, an old time hardware firm. Mr. Periolat finally went into business himself, and in late years conducted stores at No. 37 ½ and 125 Milwaukee avenue, taking into co partnership is sons, as they grew to maturity. C. W. Periolat is now in the store at 175 Milwaukee avenue, and J. A. and E. J. Periolat in the store at 37 ½ Milwaukee avenue. Another son is C. W. Periolat. Mr. Periolat was an enthusiastic member of the Old Settlers’ Society and always attended the gatherings of that organization. At the last picnic he lost the gold medal, given to the man who had lived the longest in Chicago, to an old settler whose coming here preceded Mr. Periolat’s by but one day. Mr. Periolat’s close attention to business resulted in an attack of nervous prostration, from which he never rallied
